As of March 21, Anu Rannaveski, current Director of the Defence Service Department at the Ministry of Defence, took up the post of Acting Director General of the Defence Resources Agency.

“Anu has been involved in the development of human assets in the defence sector in her day-to-day work for many years, and she is certainly one of the best in the field,” said Minister of Defence Kalle Laanet. “She possesses remarkable enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit. I am confident that the Defence Resources Agency is in very good hands with Anu.”

“In today’s complex security situation, it is of the utmost importance that we efficiently organise the activities of our defence personnel and maintain the defence readiness of our people,” said Anu Rannaveski.

Anu Rannaveski has been working in the Ministry of Defence and its area of governance since 2011. For the last four years, Rannaveski has served as Director of the Defence Service Department. Before that she spent four years as the Head of the Legal Department of the Defence Resources Agency.

The Defence Resources Agency calls up citizens for conscription service, recruits active duty Defence Forces personnel and provides an overview of the state’s available mobilization resources. A fourth important area of activity is supporting the teaching of national defence in schools. By carrying out these functions, the Defence Resources Agency supports the readiness of the Defence Forces to defend Estonia.
