The Minister of Defence Sven Mikser met today with the Members of the Czech Senate national defense committee delegation who are in Tallinn on a two-day visit at the invitation of the Estonian Parliament, Riigikogu.

The meeting focused on two main topics – the NATO enlargement process and issues connected with the Summit Meeting in Prague at the end of November, this year.

The visiting Czech parliamentary delegation was particularly interested in how Estonia has arranged the surveillance and control of its air space. This afternoon the delegation will visit the Air Sovereignty Operation Centre (ASOC) in Ämari.

At the end of the meeting the leader of the Czech Senate national defense committee delegation said he was confident that the Baltic states would get an invitation to join NATO at this fall\'s summit of the alliance in Prague.

The Czech Republic has been a firm supporter of the Baltic states\' aspiration to join NATO since last January when the Czech President Vaclav Havel voiced support for the Balts\' entry into the alliance in a speech held in Bratislava.
