In her address to the Allied troops, the Undersecretary emphasized the vital importance of their presence and joint training with the Estonian Defence Forces in ensuring a credible deterrence and defence posture.
"Deterrence depends on convincing a potential aggressor of one thing: that an attack will fail. NATO stands united. That credibility comes from real military capabilities, will to defend and the ability of Allies to fight together", the Undersecretary stated, expressing her gratitude to the Allied soldiers.
NATO’s Forward Land Forces (FLF) have been stationed in Estonia since 2017, when the Alliance's presence on its eastern flank was increased following the decisions of the Warsaw Summit. The UK-led Forward Land Forces in Estonia, with France contributing on a rotational basis, are integrated into the 1st Infantry Brigade of the Estonian Defence Forces.
